The Big Ex

It was one year ago that we went to The Big Ex. The Big Ex is our version of the fall fair but it takes place in the middle of the summer. It was one year ago that the girls walked into the 4H Barn, fell in love with every animal and made plans to join 4H and get themselves some rabbits. We would all agree that it was one of the best decisions we ever made.

So aside from the rides, the animals, the french fries, the cinnamon covered doughnuts, the crash-up derbies and the horse pulls, the girls were right in the thick of it. Daisy, Geneva's rabbit, won first place in her class and Reserved Champion overall. Domino, Emily's rabbit, placed second in his class. He missed the top spot due to some straight ears. It's a tragic fate for a lop-eared rabbit. Emily's hoping they relax by next year.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll be taking on even more projects next year. There has been talk of sheep and poultry and photography and veterinary science and sewing and probably a few that I'm forgetting. We'll just have to see if we can scrape together some time for it all.
