Travelling for Work
April 6, 2012
I was travelling for work.
It's weird to say those words in the true sense of what they mean. It wasn't that long ago they meant toddlers, strollers, an arsenal of snacks, diapers and an empty afternoon that desperately needed a trip to the zoo. But times have changed. My first born baby turns fifteen in a couple of days and the official baby is already nine. As much as I miss them being little there are more opportunities for different sorts of adventures. Ones that don't involve Cheerios.
Just last week I hopped on a plane by myself without extra snacks or crayons or stuffed animals, headed for Toronto to host the Designing for Letterpress workshop at nook. I was treated to a visit with my mom (I'm not even sure of the last time I got to visit with my mom without any kids fighting for her attention, loved that), I was treated to a great dinner by my dad and an afternoon at my all-time favourite vintage store, I got to stay up until the wee hours of the morning talking with friends and I got to lead a talented and inquisitive group of people in the workshop. Their curiosity and genuine interest made this workshop a dream. Thank you to everyone who came and contributed to making it such a great experience. I can't wait to go back to nook. Maybe I'll even be on the other side of the table next time. They have so many great workshops that I would love to take.
