Cosby's Garden Centre

Travelling to far off destinations introduces you to so many new and magical things. It can be hard to remember that some of those new and magical things are only a short car ride away. After Sue and I left Rachel and her beautiful typewriter collection we started on our way home and made one small pit stop: Cosby’s Garden Centre. Despite it being less than an hour away I had never even heard of it until Sue mentioned it to me.

Cosby’s Garden Centre is home to the Concrete Creations of Ivan Higgins. Acres upon acres of creatively landscaped forest are peppered with his incredible sculptural visions. Everywhere you turn are these whimsical, dynamic and powerful installations. Some are in your face and some are hidden where you can barely see them. Some, I’m convinced, I didn’t see at all. There are just so many, they’re easy to miss. There is evidence of works in progress and it seems like the grounds are expanding all of the time. The landscaping alone is worth the visit and is a huge part of the experience. The trees and plants are textural and alive. I would love to visit again in another season. Everything would be so different.
