Garden Update

June 29, 2026

I felt pretty embarrassed after posting this picture back in April. It was supposed to show that there were great strides being made in my little back garden but it just looked like I had ripped everything out.

I’m hoping to redeem myself a little with the current state of things. There’s still a lot to do but at least it doesn’t look like a nuclear testing site anymore.

This was my shed in April. This side, which is the side with the most visibility, was looking pretty shabby. There was a piece of wood missing in the lower left corner and the bottom half of one of the boards was rotten.

I stripped the paint, sanded it down and put in the new wood.

After a lick of paint it’s as good as new. It always seems like fixing one thing just reveals another problem. I really need to clear out and organize the craziness happening inside the shed. Yikes!

The last thing to get an update this month was my laundry stoop. Matt and I built this a few years ago now but we had left it at the functional stage. I thought it could use a few more boards to make it look nice and tidy. I also gave it a good scrub to get rid of the green mould starting to build up. This part of the garden doesn’t see any sun so I’ll have to stay on top of that.

Now we just need the sun to come out and the humidity to die down so that I can hang up some fresh laundry.
