Pretty Pink Confection

I don’t know what’s more ridiculous, this coat or the pose. Reese can barely sit still for a treat and you wouldn’t know it but she hates wearing clothes. How is it that she sat in this pose, in that coat long enough for me to take several shots? I have no idea. She’s full of surprises.

When I fixed the winter coat that I bought at Pearl’s Vintage last year, I bought a pink puffy coat with a beautiful faux fur lining because it was the best faux fur I could find for the collar and the cuffs. I didn’t want to waste what was left of the coat so I decided a little coat for Reese would be the best way to use it up. I knew it was going to be a little pink, a little glam and a little too much for that dog but now that it’s finished it’s a lot pink, a lot glam and way too much for that dog but she loves it. Maybe it’s exactly what she’s been waiting for.

The coat is based on the free Dog Coat Pattern from Closet Core. I’ve made her a version of this coat before. It was blue and plain and honestly suits her (and me) much better than this one. But she hates that one. Maybe loathes is a better word. She won’t come anywhere near the door if I have it in my hand. I have to hunt her down every single time she has to wear it. I had a theory that she didn’t like having it pulled over her head. After seeing how much she likes this bubble gum version, I think my hunch was right. I put a snap at the neck and a snap at the back. Now I just set the coat on her back like a blanket and then do up all the snaps. No drama. At least not in the putting on of the coat, but after it’s on, there’s nothing but. (See photo above.)
