Looking Down

October 28, 2026

After all of that looking up, the back of my neck needed a little rest and a nod in the opposite direction. There’s still a lot to see when you look down.

I wish I could grow this in my backyard. I also wish my backyard was cobbled with stones just like these.

Even on vacation there is plenty of waiting to be done and since I had a camera in my hand, I continued to take pictures.

Oh, to see the rest of the floor hidden behind the closed door.

St. Eusebius Church in Arnhem was rebuilt after the war. At some point they installed two glass-floored balconies to give visitors a bit of a thrill. It was easy for my brain to take in the idea of being up that high but my heart still had a physical reaction.

They are serious about beer in Belgium. So serious that De Halve Maan Brewery installed a beer pipeline from the brewing facility in the heart of Bruges out to the bottling plant three kilometres away.

This photo makes it look like it was a dreary, rainy day but the sun was shining and there were blue skies about 20 minutes before and after this shot. It sounds like that’s an average day in Amsterdam.

These are the steps up to our accommodations in Utrecht on the left and Amsterdam on the right. Hauling suitcases up and down was a rather slow and tricky business.
